Plot Overview (from the back of the book)
Amina is a bad girl born in the Bronx and raised in downtown Cincinnati. For a 17-year-old, Amina has had a decent life. But after meeting her father and 23-year-old brother for the first time, things take a turn for the worse.
Amina ends up alone, trying to fend for herself and save her boyfriend, Kayne, from 3 years in jail. Amina must prove her loyalty to Kayane, but can you be a Down Chic without being locked down yourself? This is a question that never crosses Amina’s mind, leading her to make the ultimate mistake of her life.
Author Mallori McNeil began writing Down Chic at age 14, during the summer before she began her first year in high school. She completed Down Chick and was accepted for publishing that the age 16. Mallori currently lives in Cincinnati, Ohio.

I really liked “Down Chick” and was wondering if you had any info on another author who is also from Cincinnati like Mallori Mcneal, his name is Kole Black, he wrote a novel called “The Chance She Took”. I really enjoyed his book and would like see an article on him.

Hi, I would like get more info about Kole Black and Mallori Mcneal. I am from Cincinnati and would love to see these two authors from “Tha Nati” get some love. I have read them both and they are both amazing writers. I loved DOWN CHICK! And Kole Black’s THE CHANCE SHE TOOK is a great novel! I just wanna know,
