This book wandered in the story a little too much for me. Author Shannon Holmes can write a tight story when he wants and has the street experience to tell how the Game is played. I liked the character Black at the beginning, but watch out for him at the end. For a better read, I would recommend Holmes’ book Never Go Home Again.
I FEEL THAT SHANNON HOLMES DID A GOOD JOB WITH THE BOOK !!!!!!! HE TOLD THE TRUTH HE DID NOT SUGAR COLD ANYTHING… I FEEL SAD FOR MIMI MOTHER WHEN SHE LOST BOTH OF HER SONS.. IT TEACHES YOU THAT YOU CAN NOT TRY AND PLAY SOMEBODY WITHOUT DEALING WITH THE OUTCOME( BLACK AND NETTA)
Daniel are u kidding. This was a very good book. I do not think that Shannon wandered in the book. I love this book, it wa a great read. I could not put the book down.

I read this book about 3 years ago and i instantly became a Shannon Holmes fan. This book was definitely street. I’ve been reading urban fiction for over 15 years now from the Donald Goines days and i must admit that this as well as The coldest winter ever are mt 2 favorite books of all time.
Well this was a great book to me andi feel that shannon holmes really did his thang with thia book me and all of my friends have read and we are just young but its nice to have sum excitement in our lives,
This book was great from begining til the end. It would make a good movie.
