I never thought I would run away. For some reason I thought you, of all people, would see and know.

Sheree has always been a tough girl, able to take care of herself. Then she finds herself in a situation where she can’t. She needs help. She needs answers. But she can’t get either from the people she she turns to — her parents, her friends, and especially, her boyfriend, who calls her Baby Girl and treats her like she’s disposable.

So who can Sheree turn to? Maybe the answer lies deep within herself, and it’s truly time for her to grow up.

In a voice that rings strong ant true, debut novelist Lenora Adams tells a story that is rich, complex, and achingly real.

Some call me arrogant, but I call it confidence. You decide when you find out what I’m working with.

First things first–I’m seventeen, but I’m grown and have been for a long time. I have my own ride, my mama doesn’t clock my time, and my boyfriend, Ameen, is getting money like you wouldn’t believe. There’s only one problem: when Ameen gets mad, sometimes he takes his anger out on me. And yeah, maybe I could leave him, but there’s no way Ameen could imagine being without me.

So now I’m all confused, especially since my first love, Malachi, is back in my life. Ameen is not giving up without a fight, and no matter how hard I try, the love I have for Malachi won’t go away. And did I mention that Malachi has a girl? Needless to say, my days are filled with drama. So this is my story and you need to come and chill with me as I try and see what boy is for me, what love is all about, and if my first teenage love affair will forever rule or ruin my life.

* Find a boy to ask her out

* Get on the Hi-Steppers dance squad

Gia doesn’t have the hair or the clothes, but she’s got the moves and the attitude to make her sophomore year at Longfellow High unforgettable. With her stylish new look, she scores a date with hottie football player, Romeo, snags a spot on the Hi-Steppers dance squad, and makes a ton of new friends. Gia’s on top of the world?until things go horribly wrong. Now Gia feels like all she has left is her mom and her faith. Her last love interest turned out to be a major fraud, and her ex, Wesley, refuses to accept that they’re finished. Swearing off relationships and concentrating on herself seems like her smartest move.

Then Keysha meets her new neighbor Jerry, who has every girl in town vying for a summer fling. Working as lifeguards together, Keysha realizes that Jerry has more to offer than a great car and a sexy smile, and the harder she tries to ignore him, the more interested he becomes. But is it Keysha that attracts him or the chase itself? And when the biggest party of the year gets dangerously out of line, and Wesley’s jealous new girl pins the blame on Keysha, she’ll learn exactly who she can trust. Only problem is, it might be too late to save herself….
